Shadows Among Us
Once I have let you into my life, a piece of you stays with me. This impacts my identity, for better or worse, knowingly or unknowingly. I, being newly single and moving across state lines, gained a renewed sense of independence, followed by a sudden realization of the challenge to confront my self-imposed doubts, fears and other baggage that is my “shadow”. Being shaped and skewed by social pressures, external expectations, and dependency on others, our shadow resides in our subconscious as an aspect of our psyche that the ego does not identify. Recognition of this disillusionment is a process in seeking a more true and mindful self. My work is an encounter with the journey of unveiling this distorted perception of self.
